Domino’s DOM Pizza Checker boosts quality scores

Domino’s latest product quality innovation, DOM Pizza Checker has improved product quality scores by more than 15 per cent, the franchise giant has revealed.

Since testing started two years ago, DOM Pizza Checker has successfully scanned more than 13 million pizzas. The real-time technology uses artificial intelligence to and machine learning to measure the quality of a product, ensuring a consistent customer experience.

After yielding successful results from the trial, Domino’s rolled out the DOM pizza Checker innovation to all customers across Australia and New Zealand in June.

Nick Knight, Domino’s Australia and New Zealand CEO said the strong national results showed that customers were responding well to the new market addition.

“When we first announced the concept, people questioned whether the technology would work. One month since our national launch and we’re really pleased with the results; but we want to keep improving, because we’re hungry to be better,” Knight said.

“There’s nothing more disappointing than opening a pizza box to find a poorly made pizza; whether it be a lack of cheese, uneven topping distribution, or incorrect toppings all together.”

The nationwide implementation means that franchisees within the Domino’s network will be subject to the same strict quality stipulations. Knight said that improving transparency was critical to capturing consumer loyalty and increasing brand value for corporate and franchised outlets.

“Our team always strive to get it right, but the reality of a busy store can sometimes mean pizzas go out which are below the high standards we pride ourselves on – and we want to fix that,” Knight said.

“With DOM Pizza Checker keeping an ‘eye’ on product quality, our customers can have greater confidence that their pizza will look as it should – and if it doesn’t, we’ll make it right by making it again.”
