Cold Rock Ice Creamery launches Kosher range

Sarah Stowe

Franchised Food Company’s (FFCo) Cold Rock Ice Creamery has launched a new range of “Super Kosher” ice creams and Mix Ins.

The new offering will be available at the Melbourne-based Malvern store and is specifically targeted to the local Jewish community.

What makes the range “Super Kosher” (Chalav Yisreal) is the milk used. A Mashgiash (or supervisor) has supervised the dairy product at every step of the process.

The “Super Kosher” range will be offered at the same price as Cold Rock’s standard range of products.

“In South Africa, I changed the concept of “Kosher eating out” by bringing a product to market that was not readily available to the Jewish community. I’m talking about meat pies,” said Stan Gordon, FFCo director.

“I am so pleased that I am able to do the same with our new Super Kosher range at Cold Rock.”

It is the first time a national Australian franchising brand is catering specially to the Jewish market.

“I’m Jewish, and for too long our community has been excluded. At Cold Rock we’re about fostering inclusion and ensuring we have a product for all to enjoy,” he added.

Cold Rock is looking to launch the range at a select Sydney location before the end of 2017 and a select number of stores across Australia.

The “Super Kosher” range will be available in store at Cold Rock Malvern from Friday 12 May, 2017.
