Chocolate franchise expanding

Franchise Theobroma Chocolate Lounge has opened 12 new stores within 12 months with five outlets in Australia.

Launched in Melbourne in 2006, Theobroma Chocolate Lounge now has stores across Australia, New Zealand and Malaysia, even enlisting the help of pop-group The Pussycat Dolls to open its first Malaysian store.

George Roiniotis, Theobroma Chocolate Lounge co-founder, said “Unlike coffee, there is something very indulgent, fun and exciting about chocolate. People have really responded to the warm and cozy atmosphere we have created at Theobroma Chocolate Lounge.

“When we first thought of the ‘total chocolate concept’ behind Theobroma, there was a cafŽ on every corner; we saw Australia as being really ‘coffee’d out’”, he explained. “People were looking for an alternative — and hot chocolate is it!”

Roiniotis, a former architect and designer, and friend Theo Racovalis, a chocolatier, saw a real demand for high quality chocolate in Australia.

“The lack of quality chocolate product availability was one of the main things that compelled us to open Theobroma Chocolate Lounge,” said Roinoitis. “With Theo’s experience in chocolate making we decided to fill the void with a high quality Australian alternative.”

Theobroma Chocolate Lounge now produces more than 100 different types of handmade chocolate in its factory in Melbourne, including a unique range of coloured chocolate. In addition, Theobroma Chocolate Lounge offers customers chocolate desserts, chocolate drizzled waffles, hot and cold beverages as well as a savoury menu.
