Andrea Townley, field manager for Bakers Delight in Western Australia, has been recognised as WA Field Manager of the year at the regional FCA Excellence in Franchising Awards.

Andrea has 18 franchisees running the 23 bakeries in her southern WA region.

She was recognised particularly for her work organising and implementing WA’s annual fundraising event for Princess Margaret Children’s Hospital which in 2012 raised over $30,000.

Andrea has also been pivotal in mentoring and assisting with the training of new area managers and corporate staff, and contributes her success to her passion for helping others.

“I enjoy the opportunity to assist in making a difference to individual franchisees. Assisting them to be successful and reach their goals and dreams is what I strive for. It may not always be easy, but I believe my role allows me to make a difference,” Andrea said.

The state win catapults Andrea into the national finals in October, where she will come up against field manager winners from the other states.

Chris Caldwell, general manager of operations at Bakers Delight said the award is recognition for Andrea’s commitment to her franchisees and their businesses.

“Andrea is constantly finding new ways to support her franchisees across the necessary business metrics and disciplines. Sometimes her support comes down to a good old fashioned hug when it’s needed.

“Andrea’s dedication to her franchisees is second to none and I am thrilled for her being recognised with this award,” he said.

The Excellence in Franchising Awards celebrates both regionally and nationally the success of hardworking Australian small businesses within the franchise sector.

The national finals will be held on Tuesday 9 October at the National Convention Centre, Canberra.
