Anytime Fitness opens 3000th global club

Anytime Fitness has opened its 3000th gym globally just 13 years after launching its business.

The global co-founder and CEO Chuck Runyon visited Australia from the US for the annual Anytime Fitness Australia conference in late October 2015.

In 2002, Chuck Runyon revolutionised the fitness industry when he and Dave Mortensen founded Anytime Fitness in the US, offering smaller, neighbourhood gyms featuring convenience, affordability, quality equipment and surprisingly personable service in friendly, non-intimidating facilities.

The health club chain has been named as the top global franchise by Entrepreneur magazine.

Jacinta McDonell and her brother Justin launched the US brand in Australia seven years ago and have since built the franchise chain to 450 clubs across the country.

There is still growth in the market,” Justin previously told FranchiseBusiness.

The last five years of 24 hour gyms have seen an explosion of gym members. So what’s happening in the fitness market?
