IFB: How long has your business been franchising?

HH: We began offering franchise opportunities in 1993 in Victoria and then moved into New South Wales shortly after.

IFB: Why does the system work?

HH: We believe our traditional values – particularly family – have been instrumental to the brand’s success. Each franchisee is a family-owned business, we consider the network as a whole the ‘Hotondo family’ which in turn provides a great deal of support to each individual builder.

The strong commitment to providing exceptional service as a franchisor through strong marketing, sales, building and design support offers franchisees the tools needed to compete with the national building groups.

The processes, policies and procedures in place allow the franchisees to identify areas for improvement within their own business, which the franchisor will then provide assistance and guidance in addressing possible gaps.

Hotondo Homes undertakes a long-term focus with our franchise owners and their sustainability and longevity, as a result more than 1/3 of our franchisees have been with us for over 15 years.

IFB: What are your growth measures?

HH: The business performance is very driven by numbers and all key metrics within the business have improved over the past year. The level of sales enquiries has increased 5.3 per cent over the same time last year. These increased enquiries lead to more client appointments and resultant sales.
