The Code gives franchisees certain rights that don’t apply to any other form of business – some business owners have tried to sidestep these obligations by giving their system a different name.

The agreement runs alongside other, more general laws which franchisees also need to be aware of.

3. Franchisees have seven days to cool off

After signing the franchise agreement, franchisees have seven days to back out of the agreement if they change their mind.
