New theatre franchise heading to Australia

The Razzamataz Theatre Schools franchise based in the UK is looking at the Australian market for expansion.

There are 38 part time children’s theatre schools in the UK network and the business has partnered with First Choice, Thomson and Universal Pictures to take its formula into their resorts.

Razzamataz was featured on the TV show Dragons’ Den where founder Denise Hutton Gosney pitched her concept and won investment from one of the panel.

Hutton-Gosney said “We have a particular interest in Australia where we know children’s after school and weekend activities that combine health and fitness with the ability to develop confident young people is in high demand. As well as opening their owned managed theatre schools, master franchisees will be able to sub-franchise within their country and generate multiple revenue streams.”

The company is choosing to introduce the brand into Australia through a master franchise or regional developers model.

While some franchisors insist on single brand ownership for franchisees, Hutton-Gosney believes the UK theatre school business can supplement another kid’s focused business.
