New fitness franchise enters the market

Gold Coast based personal training business Fitness Enhancement has adopted the franchising model, and founder Scott Hunt is fast gaining recognition within the fitness industry and beyond.

The company was established in 1999 by a then 19-year old Hunt, who had just $400 behind him.

It is now Queensland’s largest independent personal training company, with personal trainers situated in every Gold Coast and Brisbane suburb.

“We are excited to now be spreading our ‘100 percent private personal training’ concept Australia-wide through franchising, with the added recognition of having received awards in both fitness and business in recognition of our success so far,” said Hunt.

Mobile personal trainers provide one-on-one sessions at Fitness Enhancement’s private studios, the client’s home or a nearby park and they deliver non-contact kickbox and boxing circuit classes.

“Gyms are great value for fit people who love exercise, however they don’t cater to the millions of Australian’s who feel too embarrassed to go to a gym due to their size, age, injuries, confidence or a variety of other factors,” Hunt explained.

He added the concept has enabled people who dread the thought of visiting a gym to achieve their fitness goals.

“We have helped so many Queenslander’s who would never step foot in a gym, get to a fit and healthy weight and live a longer and happier life due to providing a private alternative compared to gyms.”

Hunt received the Gold Award from Fitness Australia in October, and he was recently named a finalist in the Gold Coast’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year awards.

He is the only fitness industry professional to make the finals, which recognise the Gold Coast’s leading entrepreneurs and business owners under the age of 40.

Hunt said he is honoured to have proceeded to the finals, particularly considering the calibre of his fellow contestants.

“Most of the finalists are from the more traditional high profile, high income and high success industries such as property and IT, so I am honoured to be the first ever person to make the finals for the fitness industry.

“It’s even more rewarding to receive the award for our success, size and growth in Personal Training when this sub section of the fitness industry is so often overshadowed by the big main stream gyms,” he added.
