Nathan’s Famous hot dogs mobile franchise has big plans to grow across Australia with up to 30 new franchises each year.

Nathan’s Famous is an international business with nearly 300 restaurants around the globe. The business that began in Coney Island in New York in 1916, today reportedly sells 600 million hot dogs worldwide.

Over the years it has refined ts famous Frankfurt recipe, with local hot dogs pure Australian beef and grilled, not boiled.

ARM Procurements Pty Ltd is the Australian master franchisee has been operating here since 2016.  It opened three corporate stores in New South Wales to test and research the market.

As a result, the franchise opted for a mobile business model which it is now rolling out nationally. Expansion plans focus on establishing 20 to 30 new mobile business units a year.

Miki Kanamaru, franchise development manager, is overseeing the franchise recruitment.

“Now franchisees can operate a business that’s flexible in location and trading hours, low staff requirements, with minimal to no occupancy costs compared to other food retail franchises,” says Kanamaru.

“With business models to suit a variety of budgets and lifestyle, franchisees can now join this iconic brand and own their own piece of New York history and enjoy being part of an ethical franchise.”

The business promotes a “transparent and straightforward” approach and a clear focus on franchisee profitability.

Kanamaru says “Given what’s happening in the franchise sector, we need to make sure that we are practicing ‘ethical franchising’.

“One of the key steps we’re taking the lead on ethical franchising is eliminating franchisor rebates from suppliers.

“We want to make sure that franchisees are purchasing from approved suppliers simply for the purpose of maintaining consistency and quality of product (especially on bespoke and branded items), and not for any financial benefit by the franchisor.

“If franchisees can find other similar quality items cheaper and it helps with their bottom line, we completely support that.”

Franchisees can invest in a Nathan’s Famous business for less than $100,000.
