Living on $2 a day: Zambrero team joins charity initiative

Sarah Stowe

Could you live on $2 a day? A group from Mexican-cuisine franchise Zambrero are giving it a go and joining the international charity initiative, Live Below the Line, which raises money for people living in extreme poverty.

For five days from Monday 6 May each participating Zambrero employee will eat on a budget of $2 per day, the monetary level defined by the World Bank as the extreme poverty line.

Zambrero believes participating in Live Below the Line will help employees live by the values reflected through the company’s Plate4Plate initiative, which donates a plate of food for every Zambrero burrito or bowl purchased.

The team will keep a daily dairy published on the Team’s Live Below the Line page.

And there’s been plenty of social media support: just two hours after the company’s Facebook announcement, the team had already reached its original fundraising target and has since increased its goal to $1500.

Check out how they’re all going here.

Congratulations and good luck to the team: Victoria Lee-Hu (operations), Sawyer Trice (marketing), Stuart Cook (CEO), Talia Waelsch (administration), Ryan Barns (accounts), Susandra Susandra (accounts) and Duneeshya Gunasekara.
