KFC weddings unveiled; Chicken chain announces catering service
Fancy saying ‘I do’ beside a bucket of the colonel’s finest? Well, thanks to the chicken chain’s latest initiative; KFC Weddings, you can.
On Monday, the iconic fast-food franchise unveiled KFC Weddings, a nuptial-based catering service that offers fried feasts, suitable for up to 200 guests.
“KFC Weddings is our response to all the couples we’ve heard of who have popped the question in one of our restaurants or who have created their own version of a KFC Wedding,” the brand said.
“With so many people wanting us to be part of their big day we just had to create KFC Weddings as a service for all couples ready to tie the knot.”
According to the franchise, KFC Weddings is offering six soon-to-be-wedded couples the opportunity for a fully-fledged, all-inclusive package. The chain is providing a KFC themed wedding celebrant, photo booth and entertainment, with catering supplied via a food truck in custom KFC buckets.
While the latest promotion is the chain’s first foray into the wedding space, it isn’t the first initiative to break new ground for KFC.
KFC Weddings, games, innovation
Over the last 12 months, the fried chicken chain has unveiled a series of consumer-focused promotions, technology innovations and updates, gaining a steady following online.
In June, Alice Springs franchisee Sam Edelman embarked on a quest to have his regional outlet recognised with a Michelin Star that took him all the way to the doors of the prestigious French company.
The move followed technology innovations that saw customers offered the opportunity to order through Amazon’s Alexa home assist, as well as the announcement of a five-lane drive-through only store slated for Newcastle.
By far the most interesting move came late last year, when the brand announced a new gaming division. The initiative raised eyebrows, with KFC fans forced to wait until this week to finally get a glimpse of the new venture.
Alongside developer Psyop, KFC released the details of a new dating simulator on gaming platform Steam. I Love You Colonel Sanders! A Finger Lickin’ Good Dating Simulator puts players in control of a promising culinary student under the guidance of a young Colonel Sanders.
According to KFC, the release features hours of gameplay, a secret ending and cooking battles, and will be available for download on September 24.
Nikki Lawson, KFC South Pacific managing director said the new initiatives highlighted KFC’s focus on providing the ultimate customer offering.
“It further shows our dedication to continually building on our customer offering and that we’re always providing delicious and fresh meals in the most convenient way to meet their busy lifestyles,” Lawson told Inside Franchise Business.
The managing also revealed that while KFC Weddings and the new dating simulator were big developments, further innovations would focus on food and franchising.
“Let’s be honest, there’s never a quiet day at KFC and we have so much more to come this year. We love food innovation so expect to see exciting new items hit our menu in the future,” she said.
