Jon Smith Subs Australian expansion now has a fixed date, with the brand’s  inaugural Australian location to launch in May.

In June last year, parent company United Franchise Group (UFG) announced it would target Australia as a key growth region for the Florida-born brand. Nearly 12 months on and Jon Smith Subs is set to shake up Victoria with its fresh QSR offering.

Located at 2 Star Circus in Melbourne’s Docklands, the 77-square foot shopfront, which seats 68 patrons will open Friday May 3. To mark the occasion, Jon Smith Subs and UFG are hosting a grand opening set to boost brand awareness.

Emad Mikhael, the franchisee behind the Docklands store said he was excited to lead the Jon Smith Subs Australian expansion.

“I’m extremely excited about being the first Jon Smith Subs in Australia.” Mikhael said. “We cannot wait to bring the premium quality food and fresh flavours that Jon Smith Subs has been famously known for in the U.S. for over 30 years.”

Serving hot, grilled sirloin steak and chicken subs, the brand is eager to make a mark on the competitive Melbourne food landscape.

“Often labelled the food capital of Australia, we saw Melbourne as the ideal city to launch the first Jon Smith Subs restaurant.” Michael Cooke, Jon Smith Subs brand leader told Inside Franchise Business.

“With its vibrant atmosphere, The District Docklands is the perfect place to showcase our delicious subs. We cannot wait to expand around Australia and we’re confident Jon Smith Subs will be a household name in years to come.”

The Jon Smith Subs Australian grand opening will be held at the Docklands store, May 3 from 12pm to 2pm.
