BRW’s fastest growing businesses list, the Fast 100, has been released and five franchise systems make an appearance, with workout franchise Jetts 24 Hour Fitness coming in at second place.

The five franchises to make the list are Jetts; Mexican food retailer, Mad Mex which came in at 12th; The Cupcake Bakery at number 31; pie franchise, Pie Face in the 49th spot and Appliance Tagging Services, an electrical safety and test and tag provider was ranked 80th.

All of the above, bar Pie Face, were included in the Fast 100 this year despite having no ranking in 2010. Pie Face’s position jumped to 49 from 79 last year.

Founder and managing director at Jetts, Brendon Levenson said he is honoured by the ranking and proud of the success of the franchise model, which is rapidly expanding throughout Australia and New Zealand with 2010/2011 Group Revenue sitting at $42,981,000.

“Since launching the 24/7, low fee, contract-free gym into the Australian market in 2007, memberships and franchise uptake has skyrocketed” he said.

“Consumers are watching their hip pocket, and simply don’t have time to make use of the bells and whistle facilities that full service gyms offer. It’s really all about what they get for their spend.”

The 24/7 offering has worked well for the franchise, which has 115 gyms across Australia, and 20 more set to open before the end of the year.

“The value proposition has not only paid off by giving members more freedom, but for the franchisees with every franchise returning profits, on average, after just three months in business. The network has just over an average of 1,000 members per club,” Levenson said.

COzero, an emissions trading company, was ranked first in the Fast 100 list.
