Jetts Fitness launches in NZ

Australian 24/7 express fitness franchise operator Jetts Fitness, is launching in New Zealand with the first club opening in Royal Oak, Auckland, on June 26.

The group expects to open 25 clubs in the next 18 months, through a combination of direct entry and franchising with both NZ and Australian partners.

“Our first step into international markets has been carefully planned to ensure the high quality execution is delivered with the same methods that has defined our Australian success,” said Brendon Levenson, managing director of Jetts Fitness.

Claire Attard, the general manager of Jetts Fitness Australia and NZ operations, has led the NZ entry program for 12 months, and is confident the model will be accepted in the same manner as in the Australian market, which has 61 clubs and more than 50,000 members.

“Gym members in NZ have expressed their desire for a low cost, no contract offer in much the same way Australians have, and given the fragmentation of the NZ market we believe the strength of our model will be welcomed with open arms, delivering a sustainable fitness product that is in line with the expectations and needs of todayÕs customers,” Attard said.

Outside of the inaugural club in Royal Oak, new clubs are also under build in Eden Terrace, New Lynn and Glenfield, and negotiations for further sites underway in Christchurch and Wellington.

Clubs in NZ will offer the same defining benefits as the Australian clubs including no contracts as standard, 24/7 access to state of the art facilities and automatic reciprocal rights to every club. Prices start at $19.95 NZ per fortnight for family memberships and $23.95 NZ per fortnight for individuals.

All New Zealand members will receive automatic reciprocal rights to all clubs in Australia.
