A Hudsons Coffee barista has won the Davinci Coffee Chain Barista Championship at Melbourne International Coffee Expo.

Wilson Wilson from Hudson Coffee Melbourne Central said “I was very nervous but very excited to win.”

The seven baristas in Friday’s competition prepared four espressos, four cappuccinos and four signature drinks for a panel consisting of four sensory judges, two technical judges and a head judge in a 15 minute time frame.

The judges assessed the beverages on taste and presentation, and rated the barista on service skills and coffee knowledge.

“I wanted to show that the Hudsons Coffee Premium blend is special with flavours that really cut through different coffee beverages,” said Wilson.

The competition is a platform for coffee chains across Australia to showcase their talent and expose baristas on a world-class stage with regulations under World Barista Championship guidelines.
