From store manager to Price Attack franchisee

Jodie Hackett knew within six months of working at Lismore Price Attack, she wanted in.

“I have lived in Lismore for 35 years with my husband, raising our four children, along with two puppies, and even though I created, owned and managed a salon, Smooth Hair and Beauty in Alstonville for seven years, I knew I wanted to be working here,” Jodie says.

“I was working as the manager at Price Attack for six months when I decided I wanted to make the business mine.”

An award-winning hairdresser with 27 years in the business behind her, Jodie took ownership of the Price Attack store in July.

“Covid-19 has provided challenges but we have continued to overcome and work through them. No job is without a challenge: in hairdressing it is a lack of apprentices coming through skills pipeline that is most concerning.”

Jodie had sold a business and worked part time to get three of her children through to HSC.

“With only one child left at school and the other three young adults, the time was right to buy a business,” she explains.

“My passion has always been in the hair industry and making women feel amazing and confident.  I then saw an opportunity to take my passion and my skills to an ownership level as an investment for my family’s future.

“I was attracted to the company because of its reputation: a large established group of over 30 years industry business experience.”

Jodie also liked the dual concept of  retail and hair services.

“Being a hairdresser is such a great skill and now as the owner hopefully a skill I can help pass onto the next generation of locals.

“Nothing beats living and working within your own community: both personally and through commerce – to keep Northern Rivers energetic and thriving with good services for locals as well as visitors,” she says.
