Franchise expos postponed in coronavirus crisis

Sarah Stowe

Visitors hoping to get along to a franchising expo in the next few months will be disappointed as two further expos caught up in the coronavirus crisis are postponed.

The first casualty was the Sydney Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo, due to take place 20 and 21 March 2020.

Organisers Specialised Events shifted the first expo of the year to a later slot in November once government restricted gatherings of more than 500 people.

Today the organiser made the announcement that two more exhibitions in the calendar would miss their slots.

Franchise expos postponed

Fiona Stacey, exhibition manager, said “Due to changed advice from government we have made the inevitable decision to postpone the Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo scheduled for Sunday 3 May in Perth, and Friday 19 – Saturday 20 June in Brisbane.”

Visitors in Western Australia and Queensland will now have to wait until new dates in 2021 to get a local expo.

The new show dates in 2021 will run as follows:

  • Perth, Sunday 16 May, Crown Burswood
  • Brisbane, Friday 18 – Saturday 19 June, Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Options for potential buyers include travelling to the Melbourne expo – set for 21-22 August – or the Sydney show at the ICC on 13-14 November.

The Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is a well-established event in the franchising circuit, celebrating its 31st year bringing visitors to a one-stop shop for franchising and licensed ventures.

In addition to an array of brands showcasing their business models, the expo includes a full two day seminar program targeted at franchise buyers. This year innovations included a ticketed workshop Start your Own Business for keen entrepreneurs wanting to enter the franchising marketplace.

The team at Inside Franchise Business is on hand at the expos to chat with potential franchisees and franchisors about opportunities, trends and advice.

We look forward to catching up with you at one of the resecheduled events in 2020 or 2021. Keep up the search!
