Former Wendy’s franchisor goes into voluntary administration

Sarah Stowe

A former Wendy’s franchisor has gone into administration, according to various reports, which is set to cause some Wendy’s ice cream stores to close across Australia.

Singapore-based company Supatreats Australia bought out Wendy’s about a year ago and will continue to act as the master franchisor for most of the 200 stores across Australia and New Zealand.

During this week a Wendy’s franchisee spoke to SmartCompany about Wendy’s failure in its duty of care after being locked out of his stores by his shopping centre landlord.

Ferrier Hodgson, a corporate recovery company, has taken over the affairs of Wendy’s, Supa Sundaes Ltd, which was established in South Australia in 1979.

As per the Ferrier Hodgson website “A hotline has been established for franchisees and landlords to contact Supatreats Australia for further information by telephone 1300 766 369 or email wendys@lease1.com.au”.
