Queensland-based fitness chain Fitstop has kicked off interstate expansion, with the opening of a new gym this month. The Northcote studio opened May 4, marking the first step in the Fitstop Victorian expansion.

Peter Hull, Fitstop CEO said the inaugural interstate location was the culmination of months spent refining the brand’s processes and support structures.

“The biggest factors have been finding the right locations and ensuring that we do the best thing for our franchise partners,” Hull said.

“That involves doing our due diligence in Melbourne, putting that support network in place, in terms of online education, to make sure that the interstate franchisees receive the same support as those in Queensland.”

Maintaining consistency across regions is one of the primary reasons the brand has been able to expand so rapidly in just a few short years.

Fitstop believes that the Victorian expansion offers an enormous growth opportunity, with the brand solidifying its commitment to online and offline support structures.

“That was one of our non-negotiables, in that every franchise partner receives the same level of support regardless of where head office is. We’ve been focused on putting systems in place before any locations open,” Hull said.

“We have an extensive library of online education available to partners through our Fitstop Academy, which is updated constantly with state-based Academy days held monthly. The growth into Melbourne and other areas has cemented our already strong stance on education and our focus on providing the best support for our franchise partners.”

With an experienced franchisee steering the Fitstop Victorian expansion in Northcote, the brand is now turning its sights on further growth.

Fitstop revealed that in addition to its 20 operational locations, the brand is currently on track to complete the year with a 65-strong network.

The fitness chain has sold territories across regions in the wider Melbourne area, with several more in Queensland and New South Wales in production.

“We’ve secured most of our metro locations across Brisbane already, and have had massive interest in our metro locations in the Melbourne market due to Fitstop’s result-driven lifestyle-inspired training model,” Travis Telfer, Fitstop Australia marketing executive said.

“The market is taking well to us, in terms of membership and franchise ownership. We focus on claiming the white space in the industry, where we can provide progression training,”

“Last month we received in excess of 150 franchise enquiries and we’re on track to exceed that this month. We’re certainly east-coast focused, but we will take it one market at a time, to ensure the correct growth systems are in place.”
