Financial services franchise Exelsuper has appointed its first franchisee, self-managed super fund specialist Glenn Doherty.

With more than 15 years of industry experiences Doherty is a welcomed addition to the Exelsuper team, according to chief executive officer Chris Harris.

Doherty takes on financial services franchise in the Adelaide East area.

“This is a major step in our growth plans and has come about following the ongoing success of Exelsuper’s SMSF specialist adviser model, which allows people to access the full range of SMSF services in the one location to set up and manage their own super fund,” Harris said.

As more people are interested in self-managing their super funds today Harris says this is good news for the expansion of the business beyond its Adelaide, South Australia base.

Having experienced growth over the past couple of years the addition of Doherty enhances the prospects for success for Exelsuper.

“More and more people are choosing to establish their own superannuation fund and assume greater control of their retirement savings, so we continue to grow as an organisation and are delighted to welcome Glenn as our first franchisee.

“He has vast experience in the financial planning and superannuation field, and more importantly, has a genuine passion to provide independent SMSF advice to help families, retirees and young professionals create, manage and protect wealth,” Harris said.

Exelsuper currently manages around $350 million in funds.
