Pizza fans to pop the question with Domino’s engagement ring

Pizza giant Domino’s has taken its innovative brand of marketing to a whole new level. The global franchise has unveiled the inaugural Domino’s engagement ring for those lucky lovers who want to say, ‘I dough’.

Developed for the brand’s Valentine’s Day campaign, the Domino’s engagement ring competition will see one winner offered a cheesy chance to pop the question with the one of a kind piece valued at over $9000.

Featuring an 18-carat yellow and white gold base topped with diamond ‘cheese’ and ‘pepperoni’ rubies, the hand-crafted pizza slice ring has a total diamond weight of more than one Carat.

Allan Collins, Domino’s chief marketing officer ANZ said the new campaign highlights how pizza has the unique ability to bring people together.

“How many great love stories have started over a slice? How many awkward dates have been saved by the arrival of the pizza delivery?” he said.

“Pizza is made to be shared with the ones we love, so this year we want to honour that with something really special and help create the greatest, if not the cheesiest, proposal ever.”

Fast food I dos

While the latest Domino’s engagement ring campaign certainly takes things to the extreme, it’s not the first time a fast food chain has gotten in on the marital action.

Just last year, chicken chain KFC offered an innovative competition that saw the brand cater six couples’ special day.

Much like Domino’s, KFC was inspired to bring the campaign to life after noting just how many people were willing to pop the question in-store.

“KFC Weddings is our response to all the couples we’ve heard of who have popped the question in one of our restaurants or who have created their own version of a KFC Wedding,” the brand said at the time.

“With so many people wanting us to be part of their big day we just had to create KFC Weddings as a service for all couples ready to tie the knot.”

For Domino’s, the lucky winner will be picked form a pool of applicants that submit a 30-second video detailing how they would involve pizza in their proposal.

The brand will then help make the successful couple’s plans a reality, offering the exclusive pizza slice-shaped Domino’s engagement ring for the big moment. “We’ll even cater the wedding.” Collins said.
