Ben & Jerry’s rallies students to enrol to vote

Sarah Stowe

Ben & Jerry’s is on a mission to tackle climate change through political action.

The ice cream franchise has teamed up with the Australian Youth Climate Coalition (AYCC) to encourage students to check they are enrolled to vote.

Kent Hildred, Ben & Jerry’s ANZ social mission manager said “Climate action is beyond urgent in Australia and many of our politicians seem to have brain freeze when it comes to strong policies and meaningful climate action.”

So in February and March this year Ben & Jerry’s mobile ice cream delivery bikes are visiting selected universities during orientation weeks in the Australian Capital Territory, New South Wales and Queensland to offer students a free scoop of ice cream and to make sure they are on the electoral roll.

Hildred’s message for the youngest electorate: “Get on the roll, grab a scoop of Ben & Jerry’s on us and together we can make sure your vote is one for climate this May.”
