Australia’s 250th Anytime Fitness club opened its doors in Mount Isa, Queensland on 6 May, with franchisee Chris Bennett at the helm.

This is Chris’s first Anytime Fitness franchise, however he has plans to open a second club in Kalgoorlie in three months time.

Chris is passionate about fitness, so it made sense that he make the career change from mechanic to club owner.

“I come from a mechanical background, so had no previous experience within the fitness industry. I’ve always had a passion for fitness though and have been training in gyms for the last 15 years, so to be able to open my own was dream come true.

“I also love being in an industry that has a positive impact on so many people’s lives,” explained Chris.

He said the franchisor offered a wealth of support throughout the start-up process.

“Anytime Fitness head office have provided me with endless support and operating systems to assist in my business growth, and I am pumped to have two Anytime Fitness gyms opening within the next three months,” he added.

Justin McDonell and Jacinta McDonell-Jiminez, the master franchisees for Anytime Fitness Australia are very pleased to have reached the 250 club mark.

Justin said “we are aiming to open 400 clubs nationally so are very happy to be over our half way mark.”

According to Justin, a number of factors contribute to a franchisee’s success.

“Our most successful franchisees focus on sales and marketing and hire a fantastic club manager to produce an ideal club culture.

“Our clubs offer the members what they need – great equipment, personal attention, and convenient and affordable facilities, open anytime,” he added.
