Hotel giant Accor, which has multiple brands in its portfolio, is giving the hotel and tourism sector a jump-start post-Covid with a whopping recruitment drive.

“This is a rapidly returning sector and we are now recruiting for roles at most of our hotels, apartments and resorts across the Pacific,” explains Accor Pacific CEO Simon McGrath.

“The hospitality industry has a certain future, and our guests are telling us that they feel confident about travelling again. It is a fun, dynamic and exciting sector to work in and those who join the tourism industry can be confident they will have an interesting and diverse career,” he said.

As part of the drive to bring in more than 1000 new recruits, Accor has launched an internship program which offers fully-paid internships (with travel allowances and benefits) for 100 students at 22 hospitality institutions across Australia and New Zealand.

The roles will sit across operations, admin, and food and beverages.

Simon McGrath said “We believe that we have a responsibility to identify, inspire and train people to become the next generation of hoteliers. We will use this opportunity to advance our commitment to diversity and inclusion, by bringing people into our industry with a wide range of interests, backgrounds and experiences.

“People with different points of view from every culture, race, religion, gender and age group because the more diverse our teams experiences and skills, the better the outcome.”

The hotel business has also looked to boost flexibility in the workspace with a Work your Way initiative, and deliver learning experiences and career development support through its training academy.

And just last week Accor stepped up its tourism promotions, unveiling a trans-Tasman campaign to boost domestic tourism to cities with a focus on specific events.
