A change of scenery with a side of success

Sarah Stowe

The only thing that is certain in life is change

It’s not uncommon for people to rethink their career choices at some point in their lives. It may be due to anything from a lack of passion, fulfilment, satisfaction and money, to wanting a better work life balance or needing to devote more time to raising a family. However, the decision to pack up from one career and plant oneself in another can be stunted by hesitations regarding having a lack of necessary skills within that new industry.

After working for years or even decades within a particular industry, developing a specific skillset is a natural result. Someone working in sales would have great difficulty stepping into a graphic design role, just as a retail assistant might find it hard to start working in the medical field without adequate training and education.

But changing careers doesn’t necessarily have to require additional education, training or up skilling at one’s personal expense. With the hopes of achieving financial freedom, a better work-life balance and the personal fulfilment of perhaps owning your own business, the support and training supplied by a franchising network can satisfy that desire for change.

Developing new skills

According to a study conducted by Bloomberg, 8 out of 10 entrepreneurs who start businesses fail within the first 18 months – a whopping 80% bust rate.  However this can be largely attributed to the failings of the processes and planning involved in executing a successful business launch. But with guidance and support provided by a tried and tested business model, the odds look very different.

Of the $144 billion that the franchising sector contributes to the Australian economy, the recent 2014 Franchising Australia report indicated more than 80% of franchisors reported their franchisees will achieve increased revenue and profits for 2014/15;  a lucrative outlook that is testament to the support systems and training provided to franchisees plunging into a new and exciting industry and career.

With 65 years of franchise experience, Clark Rubber boasts over 70 franchise stores across Australia managed by many owners who had little to no business experience prior to becoming a franchisee. Training is a core focus of the Clark Rubber franchisee support system; both upfront and ongoing. The extensive training provided by Clark Rubber helps to outweigh any lack of business experience their franchisees may have, resulting in a business model whereby their franchisees can build their own successful businesses.
