Independents will consider franchising, FCA believes

Franchising’s needs will be considered by the four independents undertaking negotiations in Canberra, according to the Franchise Council of Australia’s executive director Steve Wright.

Wright has spoken to all four independents.

“They all told me they are keen supporters of small business and have committed to putting small business interests high on their agenda,” Wright said. He said he anticipated the same support from Tasmanian independent Andrew Wilkie and new WA National Party MP Tony Crook, if they joined the Independents on the cross benches.

“This is good news for the sector,” Wright said. “We are simply looking for stability. Stability in-line with the previous Government’s promise to let the July 1st changes to the Franchising Code of Conduct settle, and the benefits take root.”
