Why three franchisees opted for Cafe2U

Franchisees Michelle Bowman, Vikki Colios and David O’Heare chose to invest in the Cafe2U brand to spend more time with their kids – they found franchising enabled them to strike a healthy balance between work and family life.

The three individuals cite the benefits of franchising include flexible hours, social interaction and the opportunity to be their own boss.

“I have three children between primary and high school and I decided I wanted some time for myself, whilst still having time to spend with them,” said Vikki.

“Since starting with mobile coffee franchise Cafe2U, I’ve been able to have a fulfilling day of work and still be able to pick up my kids from school.”

Michelle switched from a 20-year long career in irrigation to a Cafe2U franchise after she had children.

“I decided I wanted to spend more time with my kids, whilst still earning money. That’s why I switched careers and managed to increase the time I get to spend with my family,” she said.

Michelle explained Cafe2U’s initial four week training program, which all franchisees attend before they go out on the road alone, proved particularly beneficial.

“I didn’t know anything about making coffees before I started with Cafe2U, but the intense training has given me a great understanding of how to make them, as well as a huge appreciation for baristas everywhere,” she said.

As a former professional jockey, David O’Heare’s pre-franchisee life saw him compete in horse races throughout Australia and Asia – over the course of his career he won more than 500 races.

When he retired from competition David opted for a career in mining, which again saw him work away from home.

David and his partner Jessica Webster opted for franchising because it meant both parents could spend time with their children. “We’re so happy to be our own boss and the flexibility that offers us,” he said.

“We opted for the Cafe2U franchise so we can work outdoors and create a happy work/life balance. We’re excited to build our business and spend more time with our young family.”
