Inside Franchise Business: pizza gets on the road with Pizza Capers' new business modelPizza on the road? That’s right on track as Pizza Capers launches its mobile truck franchise opportunities.

Designed to take the gourmet pizza brand to outdoor venues, this newest model is available to both new and existing franchisees as a stand alone franchise arrangement.

Pizza Capers managing director Sherree Halliwell said “The food truck movement has really taken off in recent months and we are thrilled to be launching our own network of Pizza Capers Mobile Kitchens.

“The mobile concept for Pizza Capers means we are able to cater for demand that fixed stores are unable to cater to, for instance at food truck events, music festivals and outer-city industrial parks.”

With low start-up and overhead costs, food truck models have become an affordable option for people wanting to start their own business.

The start-up costs are about $40,000 with ongoing weekly costs approximately $800 over the five year lease period.

Initial growth will be across the brand’s Queensland heartland, with other opportunities identified in NSW and Victoria before the concept reaches further afield.

Pizza Capers, which is part of the Retail Food Group’s portfolio of franchise brands, is backing the mobile truck model as a strategic driver for long term growth. The company predicts as many food trucks will be on the road as there are restaurants in the chain.
