Franchisees service the outlet once a month to maintain the display by restocking and developing the ranges. Inside Franchise Business: OPC has plans for growth in NSW, TAS and QLD.

A UK company, the brand has been franchised for 25 years and has a presence in Perth (Western Australia), Adelaide (South Australia), Melbourne (Victoria), the Gold Coast and Brisbane (Queensland).

Master franchisee Caroline Esmond said, “OPC has been bought out by parent company Cathay Investments 2 Limited (Cathay).”

“We will have access to toys, stationery etc to offer the network in Australia and in the UK,” she added.

Since the January acquisition, the franchise is also looking to break into the Sydney market amongst others.

“I’d like to see three new franchises in Sydney, one in Tasmania and one more in northern Queensland,” said Esmond.

The initial investment is $37,525 +GST and franchisees receive full product training. A design team in the UK creates the cards for the network. There is no lock-in cost for premises as there is no leasing, and no ongoing marketing fee or royalty.

“We make money out of purchase of stock,” she explained.

Ideal franchisees are enthusiastic and outgoing and preferably have an understanding of sales and marketing. Franchisees also require a storage space at home to store their stock and a car.
