New to Australia, HR franchise plans to sign 100 territories

Are you looking to take your HR experience into a business partnership? One UK franchise is seeking a joint venture partner and master franchisor to launch in Australia.

Founder Sue Tumelty used her corporate experience to develop the brand The HR Dept which offers practical HR and employment solutions for the small business community. It’s been established in the UK for 14 years and has built up a network of more than 60 franchisees across the UK and Ireland.

In annual customer satisfaction surveys the company has most recently scored a high net promoter score of 85.6, with 94 percent of customer recommending the business.

Now the business is eyeing up the Australian market and is looking to appoint a joint venture partner who would hold the master franchisor agreement for the whole country.

Jane Lombard, The Franchise Shop, who is handling the recruitment in Australia, says “This makes it a little bit interesting because the master franchisor will be part owner of the Australian company. The UK franchisor will offer board level support for this co-finance initiative.”

Lombard says it is believed to be the first HR franchise model in Australia.

“Customers wil be SMEs who don’t always have access to HR, so there will be a strong demand. The business can work on a national basis and provide HR advice and outsourced support across all industries nationally.”

The business is targeting at least 100 territories within the next five years.

The arrangement would include a territory, to be operated by the master who will either need to be an HR professional or partner with or employ an experienced and qualified individual.

The HR Dept is a member of the Franchise Council of Australia.
