Pizza Hut Australia has announced that it has completed negotiations with independently owned Australian fund manager Allegro regarding a master franchising arrangement. The master franchise licence was formerly held by Yum! Brands.

“This is an exciting step change in how Pizza Hut operates in this market which will accelerate growth and deliver Pizza Hut to more consumers across Australia,” said Graeme Houston, outgoing Pizza Hut Australia general manager.

The master franchisee business will be led by an experienced and hands-on new management buy-in team of three Australian quick service restaurant specialists – Peter Rodwell (executive chair), Lisa Ransom (chief executive officer) and Chris Leslie (chief operating officer); each coming from a range of national and international roles. All three bring with them decades of experience with McDonald’s.

The main focuses will be on building a strong customer-centric leadership position, further embracing digital innovations and trends, growing new stores, and building economies of scale to boost market share and profit in a highly competitive market.

This comes in the wake of Eagle Boys falling into voluntary administration two months ago, and speculation that a merger with Pizza Hut was on the cards sector. Pizza Hut represents 5.8 percent of market share in the Australian pizza industry.
