Melbourne Expo gets thumbs up

The Melbourne Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo had a steady attendance at the weekend with regulars and franchise newbies reporting plenty of interest from visitors.

Mobile retail franchise Snap On, and business franchises Kwik Kopy and Signwave, were among the franchisors pleased with the visitor turnout.

Nick Hudson, national franchise manager for Snap on, told Franchising “We are pleased with the outcome of the expo and the quality of some of the enquiries that we received; we are confident that we should be able to award at least two franchises as a result.”

Andrew Dyduk, director of Schnitz, a schnitzel restaurant concept with four franchises, said the show had been excellent.

“We were flat out and took nearly 100 enquiries. We were taken aback by the response, and had some compliments from the industry too,” he told Franchising.

Among the new franchise systems on show, the Ezi Box concrete system, Espresso Lane coffee drive through, Lock n Leave mobile beach lockers, and beauty salon business Oxygen Skin Centre.

Non-franchised businesses included My ATM opportunities and MovieMate DVD kiosks.

Visitors also spent time learning more about what it takes to be a franchisee or to set up a franchise business in a series of seminars running through the three day event.

There are only three weeks until the next Franchising and Business Opportunities Expo in Brisbane and this is the last chance this year to see franchise systems showcased in an expo. Visitors can pre-register online for a free ticket: click here.
