Sarah Stowe

If you’re like so many of Australia’s overworked corporate employees you’re probably sick of hearing how you need to do more with less. More hours, more responsibility, more stress, but not a lot more compensation … sound familiar?

Work life balance now ranks second only to compensation as the most important issue when making an employment choice. So if you are looking to take back control of your life and make that all important step of starting and running your own business, MBE could be just what you are looking for.

With MBE’s guidance and support you get more control over the type of business operation you would like to build. From a high volume retail-orientated business situated in Australia’s largest shopping centres to a corporate account-orientated business situated in an industrial estate, MBE will help you find the ideal location and business mix to suit your needs.

A new era

Technology is playing a big part in our everyday lives, connecting individuals and businesses like never before. Australia is also becoming a services economy.

An MBE franchise is ideally positioned to capitalise on both of these trends with a business model that combines the use of state-of-the-art technology to provide ongoing business services to Australia’s ever expanding small to medium sized businesses.

Neil Stenhouse, owner, MBE Eight Mile Plains, Qld

Neil was first attracted to MBE after the success experienced by his son in building a number of new franchise locations in Queensland. With a background in management and sales Neil was looking for a self employment opportunity that matched work/life balance with solid revenue generating potential.

In the 18 months since start up, Neil’s been able to achieve both, with his business service centre setting the best all-time sales records for the first 12 months of operation.

The key to his success has been simple.

“Our business is not rocket science it’s all about building relationships from great customer service. I get enormous satisfaction out of helping local business owners just like me and being connected to the local business community.

“That’s the beauty of our business model, we can very quickly become a really important part of a small business owners’ success.”

Neil brought a lot of valuable work and life experience to his MBE franchise. “MBE helps me play to my strengths, I didn’t have to forget about the skills and experiences I gained in corporate life, if anything I’m building on them.

“I’m problem solving, meeting with customers and I can always find a creative solution to meet my customers needs. It’s important to have diverse revenue streams but equally the support provided from within the network means that I can reach out to my fellow MBE franchisees to find the best solutions.”

When asked about what’s the one piece of advice he would pass on to potential MBE franchisees, Neil doesn’t hesitate: “Hard work equals reward. Like any new business you’ve got to put the effort in to build the relationships that will lead to loyal customers. I have a core group of customers who really trust me to help make them a success.”
