KFC announces #myplan launch

Sarah Stowe

KFC has launched a goal-setting program for its 30,000 restaurant employees across Australia.

Developed alongside the Career Industry Council of Australia, the National Retailers Association and the Department of Education, #myplan, is an interactive online program designed to assist employees in setting, and ultimately achieving, their personal and career goals.

The program encourages full time, part time and casual employees to set goals within KFC, but also toward goals beyond their careers at KFC.

“Franchisees are playing a critical role in ensuring that all KFC teams get access to the #myplan program,” said Rob Phipps, chief people officer.

“This year we rolled out the program at our annual restaurant general manager’s conference.

“Since then, we have run a series of information sessions for franchisees about the value of the #myplan program and ways they can successfully implement it within their stores.”

The program is designed to employee engagement and retention; and to identify a distinct talent pipeline and meet the needs of the business and employees.

How does it work?

#myplan provides a framework to engage team members in self-reflection, self-evaluation and SMART goal setting.

  • Employee module: the online module is activity-based and auto populates a goals form with short and long term goals. The module includes information on career options within KFC and steps to take to help them achieve their goals.
  • Manager module: this module assists the manager in preparing for a goal-centric discussion with the employee and also provides coaching and mentoring skills, as well as a guide as to how they can assist the employee in achieving their short and long term goals.

The rollout of the team member module began in May 2016 .
