Ice cream for sick kids: Baskin-Robbins delivers

Franchise chain Baskin-Robbins has teamed up with children’s hospitals in Sydney and Brisbane to deliver some ice cream and smiles to sick kids.

Team members visited two hospitals, the Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Mater Children’s Hospital, just in time for morning tea on Friday 20 July, armed with tubs of Hokey Pokey, Jamoca and Chocolate Mousse Royale ice cream.

“The kids and their families loved the tubs of ice-cream,” said Gilly Paxton, director of community relations and marketing at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, where the Baskin-Robbins’ mascot Pinky entertained the excited children during the event.

Paxton said the donation had made Friday "fun-day " in the hospital.

Mater Children’s Hospital emergency department nurse unit manager Jason Holtman said the event was a great success.

“Baskin Robbins’ generous donation of ice cream was a real treat for our patients and helped brighten the day for many of our sick children.  The event was very successful and the children and staff were all delighted,” he said.

Ian Martin, Baskin-Robbins general manager, said the team had enjoyed the festivities at the children’s hospitals.

"These kids have been through a lot, so it was great to see some smiles on their faces. They were definitely happy about the special treat – it’s not often that they would see that much ice cream for the taking!”
