How is Fastway Couriers helping its franchisees over Christmas?

Sarah Stowe

CEO Richard Thame explains Fastway Couriers has implemented a number of strategies to assist its franchisees over the busy Christmas period, which begins in late November and goes right through to the end of December.

“To help our courier franchisees cope with the rush, we’re using additional resources and new technology.

“That’s why we’ve put an extra 100 vehicles on the road, introduced Saturday deliveries in all of our 25 depots and introduced new services to make it easier to connect our customers with their parcels,” he explains.

The business has already noticed parcel numbers are on the rise – a reflection of people’s penchant to shop for Christmas gifts online.

“We’ve seen a steady increase in parcel numbers and, this year we seem to be busier than ever before.

“More people are going online to find a more convenient way to do their Christmas shopping, and obviously they need to get their parcels delivered to them in time for the 25th December,” Thame says.

Parcel Connect

Fastway launched its pick-up and drop off service known as Parcel Connect in early 2014, which Thame describes as “a convenient alternative to the post office.”

“Customers are able to collect, send or return parcels from their local participating convenience stores, petrol stations and newsagents, at a time that suits them,” he explains.

“This significantly reduces the time allocated to rescheduling deliveries when customers aren’t at home. Our customers can just hop onto the Parcel Connect website (parcelonnect.com.au) to find their nearest agent.”

Trans-Tasman delivery service

Thame adds the company’s new Trans-Tasman delivery service is a convenient option for customers over the period.

“[It] allows our customers to send parcels between Australia and New Zealand through a simple, hassle-free and affordable shipping solution,” he says.

“The continued growth in online retailing is where we’ve seen significant opportunity to provide industry-leading services to our customers.”

Thame says the business is looking forward to servicing customers during the holidays. “There’s no doubt that the festive season is our busiest period, but it’s always fun and rewarding.

“Let’s face it, nowadays couriers are the modern day Santa and we take that job seriously! Our courier franchisees are local business owners, and will go the extra mile to make sure every parcel and gift arrives safely.”

He expects January to continue the upward trend, with many of Fastways’ online retail clients preparing for bumper post-Christmas sales.
