Franchisee Andy Coombs from Hotondo Homes in Bordertown has won the 2009 Franchise Council of AustraliaÕs South Australian Franchisee of the Year award, beating off competition in the two or more staff category from franchises including WendyÕs and Bakers Delight.

A thrilled Coombs said winning the award demonstrated the hard work put into growing his business since becoming a Hotondo Homes franchisee in 1995.

“ItÕs very humbling. ItÕs great to get recognition for me, the team at Hotondo Homes in Bordertown, as well as the entire Hotondo Homes group. ItÕs everyoneÕs award.” Coombs said. “It shows my commitment to the Hotondo Homes system which has given me the tools needed to grow the business. Since joining the franchise 14 years ago the business has grown significantly and now employs 11 staff members.”

Coombs also believes making customer service a top priority contributed to the win. “We have a strong focus on customer service and my main business goal is to achieve the best possible procedure for the customer from the initial enquiry to the handover and maintenance of the home,” he said.

“WeÕre the longest serving Hotondo Homes franchisee in South Australia and have grown significantly to meet demand in the local area. I also make it a priority to be involved in the community by sponsoring local netball clubs, football clubs, basketball clubs, speedway, golf clubs, go karts and the racing club.”

Franchise Council of Australia judges said the growth of the business and outstanding sales results helped him stand out from the competition.

Coombs will now represent South Australia in the 2009 National Franchisee of the Year Awards to be held in Perth in October.
