Gloria Jean’s opens first drive-thru

Coffee franchise Gloria Jean’s opened its first ever drive-thru outlet at North Lakes, one of Brisbane’s outer northern suburbs, on 20 September.

The new store joins a number of other well-known food and beverage outlets at the Lakes Centre development, which is situated just off the Bruce Highway.

Long-term franchisee Daryle Hammerich heads up the new store, and his wife Leigh, daughter Sarah, son Joe and daughter-in-law Tonia are all involved in its day-to-day operation.

Two key factors led Gloria Jean’s to the location in question – the fact that its surrounding areas are experiencing rapid growth, and a desire to cater to the needs of early morning commuters, many of who travel from the Sunshine Coast to Brisbane each day.

Nabi Saleh, the executive chairman of Gloria Jean’s, said the move constitutes a bold new direction for the brand.

“We believe that the drive-thru model is one that has a lot of potential for our business going forward,” he said.

Saleh expects the drive-thru outlet will change the way consumers interact with both Gloria Jean’s as a brand, as well as its product offering.

“We’re delighted to continue to meet our existing guests’ needs with the new North Lakes location but also to cater to new guests, particularly people travelling on the highway, by providing them with a quick and convenient yet high-quality coffee experience that we are known for.

“We’ve also had a lot of mothers with young children tell us the drive-thru coffee house is perfect for them, as they can get their coffee quickly and without having to take the kids out of the car,” Saleh said.

The new drive-thru store also offers indoor and outdoor seating options, and it is open from 5am through to 10pm every day of the week.
