Geláre Cafe launches new, “low-risk” model

Dessert franchise Gel‡re Cafe has unveiled its new model – the vintage Gel‡re food truck. Inside Franchise Business: Gel‡re has a new model.

“Eight flavours of our ice cream will be available along with our gourmet freshly baked waffles, smoothies, milkshakes, thick shakes and our specialty coffee range,” said Ryan Torabi, business development manager.

“We will be launching a one-off company owned food truck in July this year. We are in discussions with potential franchisees at the moment with the view of launching five more of these concepts over the next year.”

Gel‡re franchisees receive a fully-fitted, operational vintage truck with all equipment necessary to start their business. Along with this, they will receive initial and ongoing training and support.

“We are not imposing any hard and fast rules at this stage and allowing potential franchisees the opportunity to purchase one-off food trucks,” explained Torabi.

“We have already received a lot of interest in this franchise concept. With the right franchisee, it can be a flexible and low-risk model. Instead of waiting for customers to come to you, you can drive to your customers within a catchment.

“Additionally, we are in consultation with leasing executives about using the truck as a pop up or semi-permanent tenancy within centres. Franchisees can literally drive the truck into a tenancy instead of incurring the extensive fees associated with a shop fit out or locking in potentially onerous long-term leases.

“The truck also provides a unique and attractive offering to complement entertainment precincts within centres,” he added.

The initial investment of the food truck concept is $200,000+ whilst a traditional brick and mortar dessert bar is $350,000+.
