Inside Franchise Business: the My Ride store in CanningtonBrand new franchise systems were on show at the franchising expo in Sydney, joining established brands such as Bakers Delight, Clark Rubber, Mail Boxes Etc, Poolwerx and Shingle Inn.

Keen franchise buyers flocked to the Darling Harbour venue for the two day event, overcoming the challenges of high security for the neighbouring ASEAN conference.

Among the brand new opportunities showcased:

  • A bike retail license, My Ride, which is a rebrand of 28-store strong Avanti Plus which has been trading since 2003
  • Nathan’s Famous, perhaps the oldest quick service restaurant – it started business in 1915 serving hot dogs, and today’s Australian option features barbecued beef hot dogs, crinkle cut fries and saurkraut
  • Speed Queen, a laundromat business that seeks out unusual settings such as car parks in areas where there are activities (shopping, gyms, play centres) to keep customers occupied
  • D-Sign Interiors, a flexible hours, home staging and styling business working with real estate clients and directly with home-owners.

More than 100 brands were exhibiting at the first of a series of four expos across the country to showcase the franchising sector in 2018 – the next Franchising & Business Opportunities Expo is Perth on Sunday 6 May.
