Franchises do their bit for flooded QLD

A number of franchises across Australia, including The Coffee Club and Croissant Express, are doing their bit for the flood-affected residents of Queensland.

The Coffee Club is asking people to make donations at any of its cafes, which will then be forwarded to the Premier’s Disaster Relief Appeal and distributed across more than 14 Queensland council communities.

John Lazarou, director of The Coffee Club, who manned the phones during Channel Nine’s Flood Relief Appeal telethon last Sunday night, said he was proud of Australians’ generous spirit.

“People in these affected communities are made of strong stuff and will recover, but they need our help now. And Australians have made a great start by donating more than $10 million during the telethon,” he said.

“We started our business in Queensland, we have some of our cafes in the affected areas and because our business is more like a family we have a strong connection to our franchisees and their communities,” he said.

Donations can be made in person to The Coffee Club cafes across the country.

Bakery franchise, Croissant Express, contributed 10 percent of its sales on Friday, 14 January, and courier company, Fastway Couriers, impressed Queenslanders with its commitment to the job, hand unloading 14 cages of freight, weighing one tonne each, at Plainland, despite the delivery truck being stranded on the roadside of the flood ravaged region for four days.
