Former monk takes out Muffin Break ad comp

Muffin Break’s ‘Big Break’ competition, run by Channel 9’s Today Show and requesting Australians to send in 30 second television commercials promoting the sweet treat franchise, has come to a close with a former monk taking out top honours.

Luke Hogan of Seaham in NSW has won $25,000 in cash and a home entertainment package worth $10,000 for his Little Nibble creation, which was put together using photos of actual muffins baked at his local Muffin Break stores at Kotara and Maitland on the NSW central coast, to create 2D animated muffin characters.

Muffin Break stores are intended to be a place to relax and recharge with a great tasting coffee and muffin or light meal. Not only did Luke cleverly represent this, his adorable Little Nibble characters had every member of the judging panel gushing,” said Muffin Break spokesperson, Drew Eide.

“After much deliberation, we selected Luke’s entry primarily because it embodies Muffin Break’s core values and wide product range. However, it certainly was not an easy decision. The overall quality of entries was exceptional and showed just how bright Australian talent can shine when given the opportunity.”

Hogan, who is a meditation expert and former monk, has never won a competition before, said his family played a helping hand in the creation of Little Nibble.

“I can’t wait to share my prize with my family, especially my niece who lent her voice to create the ad,” he said.

“Through my entry, I tried to show Muffin Break as somewhere to relax among what is typically quite a hectic environment at shopping centres.”
