Fastway feedback

Sarah Stowe

Garry Stricklan, franchisee in East Mackay, is one of Fastway’s newest recruits.

When did you start your business?

September 2009

Why did you choose this franchise?

Having worked in the transport industry, I felt comfortable and at ease with the tasks I would be required to complete as part of the business. Sometimes going into business for yourself can be daunting but my previous transport experience coupled with the supportive environment, gave me the confidence this was the right move for me.

Above all, I felt that Fastway offered a solid business opportunity with a low initial investment that allowed me to fulfil my dream of being my own boss and take control of my future.

What has been the biggest challenge so far?

Initially, sticking to the timetable for pickups and deliveries was challenging, but after a few weeks things started to come a bit more naturally as I became more confident in my ability. You learn to do things quicker and everything starts to fall into place.

What are your goals for the next 12 months?

As any business owner will tell you, my main goal is to increase sales over the next 12 months. My territory has strong sales potential, and this combined with the good relationship I have with my sales representative will no doubt see continued sales growth in my territory and ultimately an increase in my income.

What has surprised you about this franchise?

It wasn’t until I became a Fastway franchisee that I realised what a top notch same day service we provide to our local customers. My customers always comment on what a great value local service we offer to the business community. As a result of this high level service offering, it’s relatively easy to grow your business and build your income.
