Coolabah Tree Café targets QLD for expansion

Sarah Stowe

Coolabah Tree Caf_ franchise is set for expansion, with four franchises to open in Queensland by September.

“The future is looking very positive as Coolabah Tree caf_ plans to open another four stores throughout Queensland over the next four months,” said Faith Manning, franchise recruitment and leasing manager.

“We’re targeting and clustering an area to grow the consumer memory of who we are.”

The franchise is known for its unique travel centre model, and its first drive through franchise located within Coles Express in Kooragang New South Wales.

“Coolabah Tree has created a niche market within this sector,” she explained.

“The travel centre industry has evolved over recent years and Coolabah Tree continues to be at the forefront of this evolution creating a strategic advantage over other food retailers.

“We are able to offer an alternative to the fast food factory type fare that is generally found within travel centres.”

And there are plans to develop the Coolabah Caf_ menu offering to include an extensive breakfast menu with items such as eggs benedict and breakfast burritos.

“Breakfast is a really important part of our business,” said Manning.

The initial investment cost of a franchise is $300,000 – $400,000 depending on size and location; and a drive through site costs $450,000. Franchisees pay a six percent royalty for network support and receive marketing support at a two percent royalty fee. Initial four week training is free of charge, and franchisees are provided on-going support of an area manager on a needs basis.

Manning said ideal franchisees “need to have a love of people” and the motivation to drive a business.
