Queensland grown international franchise company, G.J. Gardner Homes, has joined the top 100 franchises in the US, according to The Franchise Times 200 + list.

For the first time the home building business has been ranked in the top 100, improving 17 places since 2014.

Darren Wallis, CEO, of G.J. Gardner Homes said he was thrilled his company was ranked so highly in the 20th year The Franchise Times 200+, which places each franchise based on their global sales and number of locations.

“The Franchising 200 + is the annual ranking of the 200 largest franchise systems in the US, awarded their position by global system-wide sales, based on the previous year’s performance.

G.J. Gardner Homes entered the US market 11 years ago in 2004. “From being a small builder based out of south-east Queensland, to go across to the US and develop more than 30 offices and building a few hundred homes is an extraordinary accomplishment. We now have more than 130 franchisees across Australia, New Zealand and the US.”

Sales grown of 25 per cent

The franchise has seen sales growth of 25 percent to reach almost $105m, and unit expansion of seven percent.

“In the past 24 months, we have opened more than 17 new franchises and developed more than over 4000 homes sold for a gross sale value of more than $1.2 billion in the 2014/15 financial year,” said Wallis.

Another Aussie performer, Granite Transformations, was placed at 264, slipping from last year’s 248 placing. The reburbishment and resurfacing franchise has 75 units in the US and 64 international and Australian units.

Aussie Pet Mobile was listed at 499, a drop down from last year’s ranking of 472. Despite its name, and being founded in Australia, this company has been based in the US since 1999, with only four of its 214 franchise units internationally based.

The top performer in the list was McDonald’s with a system sales total of $120,732,085,000. Making up the top five: 7-Eleven, KFC, Subway and Burger King.
