Workout World partner with beyondblue to launch calendar and training diary
Australian fitness equipment retail franchise chain Workout World is launching a calendar and training diary in July focussing on the mental health benefits of physical activity.
The exercise equipment retailer is donating part of the proceeds from the sale of the calendar and training diary to beyondblue: the national depression initiative, an organisation which raises awareness of depression and anxiety.
Workout World marketing manager Mark Garrahy says: “The 2010/2011 calendar and training diary is a terrific motivational tool that will help Australians focus on their fitness goals and exercise regularly.” The calendar and training diary will be sold at all Workout World fitness equipment franchises.
Getting the fast facts on physical activity and depression
beyondblue: the national depression initiative notes that exercise prevents depression because:
- people who don't participate in physical activity are more likely to have depressive symptoms compared to people who exercise regularly; and
- physical activity significantly reduces the risk of people developing depression.
- Helping lift mood
- helping to get a good night's sleep
- increased energy levels and less lethargy; and
- blocking negative thoughts and/or distracting from daily worries.
The Calendar and Training Diary features two sections: a Training Diary section and a Calendar section.
The Training Diary is set up for two users. Each month features two colour-coded boxes to individually track and record training activity. The Calendar helps people track birthdays, social events and other reminders.
It also features:
- Top tips from Workout World staff and friends about their workout favourites
- what keeps Workout World staff and friends motivated to exercise; and
- handy health tips.
