Varying shopping experiences with the IGA franchise’s supermarkets
The IGA franchise was launched in New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory about seven years ago. This has proven to be one of the retail franchise’s most successful activities in over a decade. The supermarket franchise has over 200 outlets spread throughout the New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory regions.
The IGA franchise operates two different formats of outlets in these regions depending on the availability of space, consumer needs in the immediate region etc. These formats are classified under two different channels. The supermarket franchise’s first channel is the Supa IGA which is the larger format of store while channel two is the IGA which is the regular sized store. These stores vary not only in size but also in the shopping experience they offer to clients, hence attracting people with different shopping habits.
A consumer may find the full range of a Supa IGA suited to them or the IGA suited to them based on the shopping experience they expect from their super markets. The Supa IGA better suits, organised large scale shoppers who prefer to buy larger quantities of groceries for storage and use over a long period of time, whereas shoppers who prefer to buy groceries or supplies for a day or two may prefer the convenience of the smaller IGA. 17.11.2007Contact IGA
