The Fisher & Paykel franchise: appliances manufacturer
The home services franchise started its manufacturing in New Zealand in 1939 with wringer refrigerators and washing machine’s assembly. The rotary clothes dryers, the first product designed and patented by the appliances business, commenced its production in 1956, followed by the establishment of Fisher & Paykel Electronics. A partnership was formed with Shacklock Dunedin, an electric range manufacturer, at the same time as allied industries were established to make television receivers, radios and radiograms.
The home services franchise builds its first medical division with the establishment of Fisher & Paykel Healthcare in 1977. Entry into the international market was initiated with Australia, followed by Europe, Singapore and USA. The breakthrough product of the appliances business SmartDrive autowasher was launched shortly after wards, followed by a number of award winning innovatice product designs. Fisher & Paykel industries separated into the healthcare and appliances companies in 2001.The home services franchise is a front runner in its area of business with a strategic partnership with Whirlpool Corporation. 01.10.2007
