Franchisors, Peter and Rebecca Shoebridge opened the first Complete Garden furniture franchise store in Wagga Wagga, NSW in 1998, extending on a concept developed by Rebecca’s family 10 years earlier. Since then, The Complete Garden has expanded solely through word of mouth and reputation so that 37 stores exist throughout Australia and a further 8 in New Zealand.

The Complete Garden prides itself on very low set up costs. Potential sites are diverse ? former service stations, warehouses, even old churches . New franchisees receive training at their own store, becoming thoroughly knowledgeable about the products, systems and procedures necessary to successfully run their individual Complete Garden business.

For franchisees, Michelle emphasises that The Complete Garden welcomes people who are passionate about the concept. With the youngest franchisee aged twenty-one years-old and the oldest aged over sixty, her primary concern is that they “fall in love with the product. When this happens, it doesn’t feel like work and the business thrives”
